Play-based learning, interactive storytelling, and hands-on activities build skills at each child's own pace.
Explore Early Learning ProgramsWe believe play is how children build cognitive, social, emotional, motor, and language skills. Our curriculum blends child-initiated and teacher-directed activities, planned to support children physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Crown Daycare Center opened on March 8, 2017, licensed by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services and the City of Chicago.
Rooms are set up so children can reach what they need. Low shelves hold blocks, books, and art supplies. Teachers sit on the floor with small groups, guiding an activity or following a child's lead. The day alternates busy stretches with quiet ones, so no one is rushed from one thing to the next.

Mornings start slowly. A teacher greets each child at the door and helps them put their bag away. Children drift toward the blocks or the book corner while everyone arrives, then the group gathers for a short welcome before the day gets moving.
The middle of the day is the fullest. Children play, then come together for a small-group activity a teacher leads. Meals and rest follow, and there is time outdoors when the weather allows. Teachers watch for tired children and quiet the room when it needs it.
Afternoon is calmer and slower. Children finish projects, look at books, and help tidy before pickup. A parent arriving at the door usually hears one thing their child did that day, and can ask the teacher a question right there.

At pickup, a teacher tells you what your child did and how they ate and slept. If you have a question, ask then or call later; the director and teachers answer directly. We would rather hear from you than have you wonder.
New children usually start with shorter days and stretch them out as they settle. You can stay a while, call to check in, and take it at your child's pace. Tell us what comforts your child at home and we will use it here.

Families usually pack a change of clothes, diapers if needed, and a comfort item from home. Label everything with your child's name. Ask us what else to bring for your child's age.
